An Exclusive Conversation with Fred Kofman

Jump to section

Here are a few nuggets of wisdom from Fred:

Fred Kofman recently joined our CEO, Alexi Robichaux, for a fireside chat about ways that coaching develops sustainable leadership behaviors at organizations.

Sheryl Sandberg called Fred Kofman’s Conscious Leadership “the business book every executive should read.”

Fred is the VP of Leadership and Organizational Development at LinkedIn, member of BetterUp’s Science Board, and an elite coach. He has become the definitive voice on ways that business leaders can align values with objectives, and fundamentally transform their approach to leadership development. By shifting worldviews, and mastering skills like authentic communication and tying actions with accountability, leaders can become not only exceptional, but happier, too.

Here are a few nuggets of wisdom from Fred:

  • On what makes coaching different from other development programs: “ Coaching creates a practice field where people can learn from real world experience and dramatically cut down the cycle of developing behaviors.”
  • On how to get the most out of a coaching relationship: “When you’re given an opportunity to work with a coach, you have to ask yourself, “what do I want to get better at?””
  • On the #1 thing you need to make coaching work for you: “Coaching works for everyone, in every sector in life. But you need a desire to improve some aspect of your life to make it worthwhile.”
  • On your most important mission as a leader at your organization: “The most important goal of every member of your organization should be to help your team win.”
