Employees noted BetterUp’s authentically supportive, engaging and kind workplace culture
SAN FRANCISCO, CA —July 10, 2019 —BetterUp, the company that pioneered mobile coaching to help all workers live their lives with more clarity, purpose and passion, has been recognized by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE as #8 on the 2019 Best Workplaces for Millennials small and medium companies list, based on feedback representing over 4.5 million employees working at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations.
Rankings reward companies based on how millennials believe their company supports them in their ability to reach their full potential, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.
“We’re excited to be recognized by our employees for our strong culture and investment in their well-being,” said Eddie Medina, Co-founder and COO at BetterUp. “Our mission to help people discover greater purpose and passion at work starts with our own employees. Businesses do best when employees have the opportunity to reach their highest potential, and we’re honored to be recognized by the talented millennials at our company.”
Companies were analyzed for how positively millennials rated their organizations on over 60 different metrics defining great workplaces, including the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Of the responses received, 100% of BetterUp employees said they felt they made a difference at work and were treated as a full member regardless of position.
“Millennials today face a unique set of challenges both in and out of the workplace ranging from cumbersome student loans to a lack of trust in their management,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The Best Workplaces on this list have created a greater sense of fairness, collaboration, and professional development for millennials. These positive experiences empower them to bring their full potential to the workplace and the world.”
Facilitating a culture and work environment that supports the “Whole Person” is a top priority at BetterUp, as the Whole Person focus underpins its entire platform of enabling human flourishing via evidence-based and scientifically-backed one-to-one coaching. For its own employees, BetterUp provides employees with company-wide retreats twice a year, five “inner work” days so people can return to work more fulfilled and focused, access to BetterUp’s industry-leading personalized coaching, funds for learning and development, and other benefits.
Validating its success, BetterUp tripled revenue growth in 2018 and now has more than 100 enterprise customers, including 28 of the Fortune 1000. BetterUp doubled its employee headcount in the past year to over 200 employees – more than half of whom are women. Earlier this month, BetterUp secured $103 million in its Series C funding—believed to be the largest ever financing round in the burgeoning field of tech-enabled employee coaching, behavior change and wellness. BetterUp was also recently listed as a Best Place to Work by San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal.
