Michael Ross

Former CHRO of Visa, HR Technology Investor & Board Member, and Lecturer in Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business | BetterUp CHRO Advisory Council Member

Michael drives disruption in the field of Human Resources & The Future of Work through his roles in academia and as an investor in the next generation of HR software. This includes teaching the Future of Work at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, serving as an advisor to HR technology companies, and being a founding member of the Executive Advisory Board of Silicon Valley  based SemperVirens Venture Capital.  

Michael has worked as a strategic advisor to global enterprises such as SAP, CVC, Riot Games, Qualtrics and Pinterest as well as startups such as BetterUp, Eightfold.ai and Multiverse.  

In his most recent operating role, Michael was the CHRO at Visa Inc., where he launched Visa University, opened Visa’s first employee Health Center, advanced the company’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, and oversaw the growth of the employee base from approximately 9,000 to 16,000+.  

Michael was previously HP’s Chief Talent and Rewards Officer. During his corporate HR career, Michael worked closely with public company Talent & Compensation  Committees of the Board of Directors for approximately 15 years.  

Michael has an M.S. in International Employment Relations and Human Resource Management from the London School of  Economics and Political Science and a BBA in Finance from James Madison University.
